TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police’s Traffic Directorate is preparing personal protective equipment for its personnel on field who deal with certain cases such as road accident, regarding the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
"We’re preparing personal protective equipment (PPE). So, the police members are equipped [with PPE] for certain cases which causes are yet to be identified," said the Jakarta Police's Traffic Director Sr. Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo in Jakarta Thursday, March 19.
He added that the protective equipment will also be given to other police members, outside the traffic police officers, who first visited the scene.
Sambodo reasoned that the officers cannot confirm if the victim of, for example, a traffic accident is contracted with COVID-19 or not.
The police are still collecting data regarding the needs of personal protective equipment for its personnel on the field. “Not every member on the road will wear PPE,” he said.
The traffic corporate at the police headquarters also ordered its members to anticipate the spread of coronavirus.
The implemented policies include the body temperature checking for the applicants of driver’s license or vehicle tax services, providing hand sanitizer, masks, gloves, and limiting the number of people at the service room, as well as conducting regular disinfection.
