TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said he and first lady Iriana Jokowi have undergone a string of medical health tests to confirm whether they have contracted the coronavirus (COVID-19) or not.
“Yes, I underwent tests. The First Lady has also undergone the same tests. As for the results, ask those who tested us,” said the President at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Monday.
The President underwent the COVID-19 medical checkup together with the entire Cabinet members after Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi tested positive for the virus that originated from China’s province of Wuhan.
Budi Karya’s status was confirmed by the deputy of the Gatot Subroto Army General Hospital, Col. Budi Sulistya, at the presidential secretariate office in Central Jakarta on Saturday, March 14. The minister is identified as coronavirus Case 76 and under close medical treatment at the aforementioned hospital.
Most of Jokowi’s state-ministers have undergone a series of medical checkups from Sunday to Monday. The President was also tight-lipped about the technicality of his test and did not elaborate whether he went to the RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, where most of his state-ministers went, or whether a team of doctors checked on him at the Presidential Palace.
