Latest COVID-19 Development Sees 3 Recoveries, 2 Deaths

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s COVID-19 mitigation spokesman Achmad Yurianto announced the recovery of 3 coronavirus cases in Indonesia, out of the total of 34 confirmed cases. The series of tests on the three patients showed negative traces of the virus that originated from China’s province of Wuhan. 

Eight cases were transmitted within the Jakarta cluster, 19 cases were infected while traveling abroad (imported cases), and one case came from the Diamond Princess cruise ship cluster. 

The following are recent facts surrounding COVID-19 cases in Jakarta:

  1. Three cases treated at Persahabatan General Hospital (RSUP) recovered

The recovery of the three patients, namely Case 06, Case 14, and Case 19, was announced on Thursday, March 12. The president-director of RSUP Persahabatan, Rita Rogayah, announced in a press conference that the patients will soon be discharged. Two out of the three patients came from the Diamond Princess and imported case clusters.

  1. First case ending in death 

COVID-19 spokesman Achmad Yurianto announced the death of Case 25 who was treated at the RSPI Sulianti Saroso hospital on Wednesday, March 11. The 53-year old patient had a medical history of diabetes, lung disease, hypertension, and respiratory obstruction.

  1. Suspected case dies at the RSPI Sulianti Saroso 

The Sulianti Saroso hospital reported the death of one suspected COVID-19 case on Wednesday, March 11. The patient, unfortunately, died just hours after being admitted to the hospital and had not undergone tests to determine whether the 37-year old patient contracted the coronavirus. The patient had a medical history of diabetes, hypertension, and chronic respiratory obstruction.

  1. Two patients test negative for the virus

Two patients treated at the RSPI Sulianti Saroso identified as patient No.3 (33-year-old) and No.10 (29-year-old) were tested negative for the virus that originated in Wuhan, China. However, both are waiting for a second medical test. Patient No.10 is a foreign national who made contact with the COVID-19 patients in Jakarta’s dance group cluster.
