TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The electricity at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport’s Terminal 3 had reportedly experienced a blackout on Wednesday night which left the terminal in complete darkness.
The video that went viral in social media platforms and shared from mobile chat apps shows the terminal temporarily left in pitch darkness, including its hallways and lobby.
State-owned electricity firm PLN in the Banten distribution area assured that issue was not due to the lack of electricity supply from its electricity plants. “Regarding the blackout at Soekarno-Hatta’s Terminal 3, PLN’s supply was not hampered but the blackout was due to the airport’s internal electricity management,” said PLN Banten’s communication manager Eman today.
According to Eman, the official clarification on the blackout is due to a problem in the terminal’s installation panels as the lights did indeed stopped working but the baggage services continued as normal.
This was concurred by Soekarno-Hatta International Airport’s executive general manager Agus Haryadi who said the blackout only affected one block in Terminal 3. He assures that the issue has been fixed.
