TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Karoseri Association has stated that they will immediately follow the obligation to install the Global Positioning System (GPS) technology for their commercial vehicles. This was said by the Secretary-General of the Indonesian Karoseri Association (Askarindo) T. Y. Subagyo. "We must obey any government policy, installation is not a problem for Karoseri, it has been done on Transjakarta," Said Subagyo, Wednesday, March 11, 2020.
The Ministry of Transportation requires public vehicles to install Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking device technology. Technical instructions regarding the obligation to install GPS have been regulated in Regulation of the Director-General of Land Transportation Number: KP.2081 / AJ.801 / DRJD / 2019. The deadline is given until August 2020.
According to Subagyo, the Karoseri just need to add the cost of GPS installing. Meanwhile, for the network rent fee will be charged to the autobus (PO) company. "Network rental is not the responsibility of the Karoseri but it is the responsibility of the vehicle owner," he said.
The brand holder's agent also claimed to be ready to implement this rule. PT Hino Motors Sales Indonesia (HMSI) claims to have started pairing GPS in their vehicles since January 1, 2020.
"Hino, starting since January 1, 2020, has been using 'Hino Connect' for all its products both trucks and buses and provides 5-year free service for costumers," said Director of Sales and Promotion of Hino Motor Sales Indonesia (HMSI) Santiko Wardoyo.
