TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta administration has officially postponed the Jakarta Formula E race that was originally slated for June 6, 2020. The government has yet determined the replacement date and will depend on the development of the coronavirus crisis in the city.
The race cancelation was mentioned in the official circular No.117/-1.857.73 issued on March 9 to the Organizing Committee Jakarta E-Prix.
The letter that was signed by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan reads; “In monitoring the development of the COVID-19 from other parts of the globe, especially in Jakarta, the administration has decided to postpone hosting the Formula E that was originally scheduled for June 2020.”
The Jakarta E-Prix postponement adds to two other canceled races in the electric formula race’s calendar following the Rome E-Prix and Sanya E-Prix in China.
Moreover, Formula E Jakarta Advisor Husain Abdullah said that Governor Anies Baswedan is scheduled to issue an official statement on Wednesday. “The Governor and race organizers will hold a press conference this morning,” he said to Tempo on Wednesday, March 11.
On Saturday, the Formula E advisor assured that the public’s interest remains the forefront of their priorities.
