TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Wishnutama Kusubandio is currently composing a new special procedure to improve the safety and security of tourists who visit Indonesia. This comes after Indonesia is generally ranked at level yellow by international travel advisories.
“We must maintain the security and convenience of anyone that visits Indonesia. This is also the reason why we are constructing a special safety measure meant to improve [people’s experience] and increase tourist visitations up to 20-30 percent,” said Tourism Minister Wishnutama.
He also stated that the goal is to improve Indonesia’s position, which means tourists are advised to exercise increased caution, from yellow advisory to green. Wishnutama maintains that a change in safety procedures will be one of many aspects that can provide more security to tourists visiting Indonesia.
Several days ago, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo visited one of the country’s super-prioritized tourism spots in Labuan Bajo for a field visit.
The president also instructed the Military, National Police, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), and related state-ministries to form integrated organizations in tourist destinations across the country.
“This is to show our physical presence in tourist destinations. Tourists would certainly feel secure upon seeing a patrol team present at tourist sites,” said the president.
