Telkomsel Plans Building 23,000 4G BTS Towers in 2020

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Telkomsel is planning to build 23,000 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) this year. The BTS towers are expected to support the public's digital connectivity.

"Telkomsel implements the latest technology in developing capacity and network speed," the company's network director FM Venusiana, said on Monday, March 9. 

According to Venusiana Telkomsel has transformed; from a telecommunication company into a digital company. Therefore, the company continues to push for its 4G network growth.

In 2019, she said that Telkomsel recorded 52 percent increase in data traffic, along with the increasing number of BTS towers.

For 2020, the 4G BTS will have new technology for capacity and speed, including the NB-IoT, the VoLTE, and the use of Carrier Aggregation.
