TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Train operator PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) provided hand sanitizer across stations and operating train cars as of today, March 4 as an effort to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus or known as COVID-19.
“700 bottles of hand sanitizer are ready in the train sets and stations. We call on commuters to use this service wisely and not move the bottle from its place or take it for personal purposes,” said the company's spokesperson Anne Purba.
The antiseptic was also available in 88 train sets operating in all lines, and each train will have three to four bottles, she added.
Additionally, commuters could also sterilize their hands with the disinfectant set in the counter of all 80 stations across Jabodetabek, Cikarang, and Rangkasbitung.
Since Feb. 3, Anne explained that her side had been distributing face masks in 36 stations, educating proper handwashing, installing educational material in stations, and making announcements in light of the virus both onboard or stations.
Additionally, PT KCI frequently cleaned the trainsets after the operation using the disinfectant. During the operation, the On Trip Cleaning officers were also mobilized to keep the train hygiene, Anne concluded.
