TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Traffic Police officially issue online International Driver's License (SIM) on Friday, February 28, 2020.
The traffic police chief Inspector General Istiono said the international license will be valid in 188 countries. "Not only in Asian regions but it will also be valid around the globe," he said Friday, Feb. 28.
The public will be charged Rp250,000 for an issuance of online license, both for car and motorcycle licenses. While the cost for renewal, said the police, is set at Rp225,000.
Istiono explained that applicants only need to register through the official website of the Traffic Police. Once the form is complete, applicants can pay via bank transfer. The final step is taking photo and fingerprints record at the Traffic Police HQ.
"When you come, bring your original driver's license, ID, passport, and print or the capture of the online registration and proof of payment. The international license will be ready in 10-15 minutes," the police said.
This international driver's license, said Istiono, will be valid for three years from the issuance.
