TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Executive Director of pollster Indo Barometer, Muhammad Qodari, revealed its latest poll result which favors Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto over Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan in a situation if both run for the 2024 presidential election.
“Prabowo would still come up as a winner supposing that both he and Anies Baswedan go head-to-head [in the 2024 presidential election]. This is due to both men being in the same segment,” said Qodari in presenting the Indo Barometer survey result on Sunday, February 23.
The poll classified the figures based on three groups from where these political figures come from; state-ministers, regional heads, and those potentially endorsed by political parties that have a chance of running for the 2024 presidential candidacy.
In the ‘state-ministers group’ Indo Barometer places Prabowo Subianto highest with 43.1 percent and is followed by Coordinating Minister Mahfud MD with 6.9 percent. In third is State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir scoring 5.8 percent while other notable state-ministers such as Tito Karnavian, Nadiem Makarim, and Airlangga Hartarto all scored under 5 percent favorability.
Figures from regional heads saw Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan be the most favored to run a president with 31.7 percent, while second place is filled by Ganjar Pranowo with 11.8 percent, Tri Rismaharini with 9.9 percent, Ridwan Kamil with 8.2 percent.
“Based on those figures, Anies Baswedan has the most chance to run for the 2024 presidential election,” said Qodari.
The Indo Barometer poll also combined the political figures from the separate groups and measured their preferability on running as a presidential candidate, which resulted in respondents preferring Prabowo Subianto (41.4 percent) over Anies Baswedan (23.3 percent).
