TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The BPPT or the Assessment and Application of Technology Agency is reportedly preparing a national strategy on artificial intelligence (AI) which is sought to complete mid-2020.
“We will attempt [to complete it] in July 2020,” said BPPT Director of information technology and communication, Michael Andreas Purwoadi, at the workshop on artificial intelligence in the digital era on Thursday, February 20.
The AI national strategy is a program that was initiated by multiple related state-ministries, academics, and tech-based education organizations. Artificial intelligence has entered several industries in Indonesia, one of which is used by e-commerce in customer services that takes the form of “chatbot.”
The AI development the BPPT is currently eyeing on will be focused on public services that are hoped to have a major impact on society. One program currently developed by the BPPT that adopts the manmade intelligence is to handle forest fires.
