TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that the government was finalizing the concept of the new capital city in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan. Next week, Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will meet with President Jokowi for further talks on the mega project.
“We expect Masayoshi and Tony Blair to visit the President on February 28,” said Luhut after a coordination meeting with several ministers at his office, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 19.
The CEO of Japan-based telecommunication firm and the former British PM, as well as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed bin Zayed, are part of the steering committee overseeing the construction of Indonesia’s new capital.
In addition to a discussion on the concept of the project construction, Luhut added, the two would confirm their investment to help construct the new capital. “Yes, they want to invest,” he said, stopping short of detailing the investment value.
Luhut went on to say that he had received the report from the National Development Planning Minister or Bappenas Head Suharso Monoarfa regarding the final concept of the new capital city to be handed to President Jokowi.
