TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Xpress Air replaces flights from Yogyakarta to Adi Sumarmo Airport in Solo. The airline has five routes from Yogyakarta's Adi Sutjipto Airport, namely Yogya-Palembang, Yogya-Samarinda, Yogya-Pontianak, Yogya-Banjarmasin, and Yogya-Lampung.
"We will move gradually," said Xpress Air Sales Marketing and Corporate Supervisor Irfan Setiawan at Solo City Hall on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.
By the end of March, they will move flights to Palembang, Samarinda, and Pontianak to Adi Sumarmo Solo Airport. While the route to Banjarmasin and Lampung will be moved to Semarang's Ahmad Yani Airport.
Furthermore, they will complete flights from Solo to Banjarmasin and Lampung. "So that there will be five flights from Solo," he said. The same thing will be done at Semarang airport.
Irfan mentions that the airline is not yet interested to use the New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA). Because the market share at the new airport cannot be measured yet.
According to Irfan, Solo Airport also has several better facilities, such as the airport train. He added that Solo Airport is near to the Transjawa toll road, making it easily accessible from various regions.
Head of Solo City Tourism Office, Hasta Gunawan hopes that the new Xpress Air flights will boost tourist visits to the city. "Of course we will follow up with adequate promotions," he said.
