TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi announced that the 78 Indonesian crewmembers aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship would not undergo observation—in efforts to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus—as they arrived back to Indonesia.
The sminister said these Indonesians had undergone observation aboard the cruise ship, which currently docked in Yokohama, Japan. Indonesian state-healthcare personnel have been mobilized to the location.
“That means their conditions are healthy,” said Retno Marsudi at the North Medan Merdeka Presidential Office on Monday, February 17.
Based on the data from the Presidential Staff’s Office, 456 of the passengers on board the Diamond Princess had tested positive for the coronavirus.
Despite the positive health status of the 78 Indonesians, Minister Retno said they must complete the observation aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship that would end on February 19. They will undergo several health checks prior to being transported back to Indonesia approximately between February 23-24.
