TEMPO.CO, JakartaLion Air boss Rusdi Kirana has given cash rewards totalling Rp300 million to 18 crewmembers of the Batik Air flight who recently evacuated Indonesians from coronavirus-stricken Wuhan, Hubei province, China.

“This is a surprise. We give them spontaneously,” he said at the Transportation Ministry office in Central Jakarta, Monday afternoon, February 17, 2020.

The money was received by the flight's cabin crew, pilots and engineers in different amounts.

The two pilots received Rp50 million each, Rp 25 million to a co-pilot, Rp 15 million each to three engineers, Rp15 million to an operations officer, Rp15 million to a senior cabin crewmember, Rp10 million each to the other eleven cabin crewmembers.

Aside from the cash, Rusdi said the airline would also give them additional leave. “We will definitely give them additional leave,” he said.

Earlier, the government appointed Batik Air to pick up 245 Indonesians from China in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, as the airline had a direct flight from Indonesia to Wuhan. The flight was made on Sunday, February 2, 2020.
