TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Organizers of the Jakarta Formula E race weekend slated for February this year, claims the modifications done to the Monas (national monument) area will not hamper the site’s cultural heritage elements.
“We have taken every input we could obtain in regards to the construction of the Monas circuit, both from its cultural heritage and preservation. We have prepared all of those inputs since day one,” said the Formula E Jakarta communications director, Dhimam Abror, at City Hall on Wednesday, February 12.
This further asserts his organization’s plan which he claims had always thought about Monas’ preservation and to avoid permanently modifying anything within the Monas park.
“But everything might seem cluttered during the construction process,” said Dhimam.
The Formula E Jakarta steering committee previously issued four requirements that must be met by the racing organization; building the temporary street track while adhering to Law No.11/2010 regarding cultural heritage; preserving the area’s vegetations and cleanliness; maintain public order nearby the Medan Merdeka area (where the Presidential Palace is located); and involve agencies that can prevent a facility’s role altercation and environmental damage.
