TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor is only some 60 kilometers away from Jakarta. Despite its heavy weekend traffic, Bogor remains an attractive destination to Jakartans who are looking for a quick trip out of town to somewhere cooler.
Sentul, for example, offers green hills with plenty of tree shades. The area is known to host a number of amusement parks as well as nice hotels.
The Giri Jaya Cariu Deer Park is also a lovely place for families to spend a weekend. The reindeer breeding area expands 5 hectares.
There is also the Sindangbarang Cultural Village for travelers who love experiencing the culture—in this case, Sundanese. Admission fees start at Rp25,000 and there are group tour packages as well.
For lovers of nature, the Gunung Pancar Nature Park offers beautiful scenery of pine forest with outbound and camping facilities. Admission is Rp5,000 on weekdays and Rp7,500.

Lake Quarry Jayamix is famous for its turquoise green water, due to its nature as a former sand mine. Admission fee is Rp2,000 and with an extra Rp10,000 visitors can go on a boat ride to enjoy the lake.
Arguably Bogor's most famous travel spot is the decades-old Botanical Garden. Just 60 kilometers from Central Jakarta, the garden is home to a wide range of trees and plants—including the world-renowned Rafflesia Arnoldi flower. The admission fee is Rp26,000 for foreigners and Rp15,000 for locals.
