64 State-Owned Hospitals Set to Treat Coronavirus Patients

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 64 state-owned hospitals are preparing prerequisites to treat patients infected with the coronavirus. Director of Pertamina Central Hospital, Fathema Djan Rachmat, said that state-owned hospitals have been encouraged to cooperate with related institutions.
“Understanding and cooperation must be carried out by all parties. At present, 64 state-owned hospitals must play an active role in preventing the spread of corona infections in Indonesia," he said in a written statement, on Thursday, February 6, 2020.
The 64 hospitals have been asked to continue in establishing communication with three hospitals that have become national referrals, which are the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Persahabatan Hospital, and Sulianti Saroso Hospital.
Discussions related to the anticipation of the spread of the virus were held simultaneously between the BUMN hospitals, the Ministry of Health, and the Port Health Office (KKP). The contents of this discussion socialized basic knowledge about handling and identifying the source of infection.
The Ministry of Health's Director of Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases, Wiendra Waworuntu, stated that the education of patients, families, and the community is paramount to reduce the possibility of spreading the coronavirus. "In addition, education is important to suppress the hoax news related to the virus," he said.
Chief of KKP I Soekarno-Hatta, Anas Ma'ruf, said that at present, Soekarno-Hatta airport has taken special steps to detect the condition of foreign tourists entering Indonesia. "We do screening at the airport to address the development of coronavirus infection," he said.
The coronavirus, which originated from Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, has now spread to 27 countries globally. The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an emergency status against the spread of this virus.
As many as 630 people have died as a result of the disease, while 20,000 others are known to be positively infected with the coronavirus.
