TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police are set to hold a reconstruction of the acid attack case of Novel Baswedan on Friday, February 7. The reconstruction will take place at the crime scene near Novel’s residence in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
“The reconstruction will be held tomorrow (Friday) at dawn following the incident,” said Novel’s attorney Saor Siagian to Tempo on Thursday, February 6.
The senior investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was splashed with acid water after he performed dawn prayer at a mosque near his home on April 11, 2017. The incident caused severe injuries to both of his eyes.
At the end of December 29, the police nabbed two suspected attackers, Ronny Bugis and Rahmat Kadir Mahulette, active policemen. Ronny was suspected for splashing the acid water, while Rahmat was the helper. Rahmat claimed he considered Novel a traitor.
Meanwhile, Novel said that he did not acknowledge the said attackers and believed they were just messengers.
Earlier, Jakarta Metro Police reportedly had submitted two case files on the alleged suspects of Novel Baswedan case. However, the documents were returned by Jakarta’s High Prosecutor Office as they were not yet complete.
