TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Embassy in Turkey has confirmed that no Indonesian citizen falling victim in the accident of Pegasus airlines plane 2193 that skidded off the runway at Sabiha Gokcen Airport, Istanbul on Wednesday, February 5.
The incident reportedly caused by the bad weather and wet runway, splitting the passengers plane into three pieces after landing.
“We have confirmed to Pegasus Airlines and searched for information to three hospitals treating the victims that so far no Indonesian citizen fall victim,” said the Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey Lalu Muhammad Iqbal on Thursday, February 6.
The Boeing 737-86J skidded off the runway and broke into three pieces. However, there is no official report on the cause of the incident yet. The npr.org news outlet reported three people killed and 179 passengers including the cabin crew suffered injuries.
"According to the information we obtained, the plane drifted to the land as a result of the hard landing," Turkey's Health Minister Fahrettin Koca as quoted from npr.org.
