TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Land Rover Freelander vehicle that plunged into the HI Roundabout pool, in Central Jakarta, on Wednesday morning, February 5, 2020 was known to be driven by someone with the initials PWH. The police suspected that PWH was driving without concentration.
“(We) suspect due to a lack of caution and concentration, (the driver) then hit the sidewalk and the driver could not control the vehicle, which finally plunged into the HI Roundabout pool,” said Chief of the Law Enforcement Sub Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas), Commissioner Fahri Siregar, in a written statement, February 5, 2020.
As a result of the incident, the SUV, with license number B 8700 RO, sank with only the roof of the car being visible. Fahri went on to explain that the front bumper and the right front tire rim had also been heavily damaged.
“The driver suffered a gash wound in his left temple and was taken to hospital for treatment," Fahri said.
The car has been evacuated out of the HI roundabout by 05:30 in the morning. Aside from the driver and the vehicle, there were no other casualties or damage from the incident.
