TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Greater Area Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) targets the construction of mass rapid transport (MRT) in South Tangerang to begin in 2022.
BPTJ Infrastructure Director Edi Nursalam said he was still trying to propose that the South Tangerang's MRT project be included in the national strategic project (PSN). This year, there will be a study on outline business cases (OBC).
"Hopefully, we can conduct the FS (feasibility study) and DED (detailed engineering design) next year, [and] the final business case later for PPP," said Edi, Tuesday, February 4, adding that the construction is targeted to commence in 2022 once the studies are complete and running smoothly.
He went on to say that the series of studies was carried out to measure private interest in projects estimated to cost up to Rp20 trillion. Through the OBC study, it will be known whether or not the mass rapid transport project is profitable.
According to Edi, the auction process can already be carried out in 2021 after all studies are complete.
He said that the FS conducted by PT MRT Jakarta was just a route indication and needed further development.
Previously, the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, estimated the cost of the MRT development to reach Rp20 trillion for the 20-kilometer route.
