LRT Pulogadung-Kebayoran Lama may Face Cancellation, Says DPRD

4 February 2020 09:22 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta provincial administration’s plan to build light rail transit or LRT Pulogadung-Kebayoran Lama section may face cancellation. The Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission B member Gilbert Simanjuntak explained that the project conflicted with the construction project of MRT east-west corridor by the central government.

The new corridor of the mass rapid transit will be built along the routes of Cikarang-Ujung Menteng-Kalideres-Balaraja.

According to Gilbert, the LRT phase 2a construction project did not comply with the regional regulation No. 1/2012 on the Jakarta Spatial Plan 2030. The nomenclature of the plan was not also listed in the map of the spatial structure plan.

“The LRT Phase 2a project contradicts the RDTR (city’s detailed spatial planning), lack of nomenclature, and is not in line with the MRT policy by the central government,” explained Gilbert after the meeting at the DPRD Building, Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta.

“This is a reckless [project] proposal without thorough planning and studies on existing rules. This is a fatal mistake,” he added.

The city administration is advised to halt the project worth Rp154 billion, The PDIP politician said, as it should follow the Presidential Regulation No. 55/2018 on the Jakarta Transportation System Blueprint (RITJ) inked by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

Gilbert recalled that the city secretary Masdes Aroufi claimed to have not yet received the cancellation letter of the LRT phase 2a project from the Home Affairs Ministry but acknowledged the order to stop the plan. “He (Masdes) said Governor [Anies Baswedan] yet to give instructions upon the report,” he added.
