TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani will soon submit the draft of the Omnibus Law on Tax to the legislator. The bill that has been drafted since the last quarter of 2019 was scheduled to be submitted this afternoon, on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.

“We will soon visit the House of Representatives (DPR) leaders to deliver (the draft of omnibus law on tax). We hope that this draft bill will be discussed soon," she said at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 29.

Before submitting the draft bill, a presidential letter (surpres) signed by President Joko Widodo was submitted to the House leaders. After the legislators received the draft of the omnibus law on tax, they will deliberate it in a plenary meeting, which will decide on how to continue the discussion on the draft bill.

“We wait, depending on the DPR's plenary schedule. We hope it can be quickly discussed," stated Sri Mulyani.

The House has previously approved the 2020 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) in a plenary meeting, held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Of the 50 bills that were included in the priority Prolegnas, there were three Omnibus Laws proposed by President Jokowi, which includes the Bill on Employment Creation, the Bill on Taxation, and the Bill on the State Capital.
