TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Firli Bahuri expressed optimism that his institution will capture Harun Masiku, a suspect of a bribery case that incriminated former commissioner of the Election Commission (KPU) Wahyu Setiawan.
"We will definitely arrest HM (Harun Masiku)," said Firli after meeting with the head of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) in Ciracas, East Jakarta, Wednesday, January 29.
According to Firli, the anti-graft body is still hunting the PDIP legislative candidate and tracking down his whereabouts.
However, he claimed to have no deadline. "I have never talked about targeting the time to catch people [because] it is like looking for a needle in a haystack," Firli said.
The former South Sumatra Police Chief stressed that the tracking has been carried out in several regions across the archipelago. He also asked all people who know of Harun's whereabouts to immediately make a report to the KPK or the police.
"I have been a member of the National Police for 30 years, I have never set a deadline for an arrest. But I am optimistic that I will surely apprehend [Harun]," Firly remarked.
Harun Masiku has been named suspect since January 9, for allegedly bribing Wahyu to clinch a seat of the House of Representatives (DPR). However, he remained as a fugitive to date.
