TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday, January 29, inaugurated the Nanjung Tunnel project located in Bandung’s Citarum river’s Jompong waterfall (curug). This project is slated as part of Citarum river’s flood management system.

The construction of the Nanjung Tunnel had started since November 2017 by two contractors that cost the national budget up to Rp316.01 billion. 

The tunnel consists of two tunnels with equal lengths of 230-meters and a diameter of 8-meters. This facility is hoped to reduce the floods in the area of Baleendah, Dayeuh Kolot, Andir, and areas closeby.

The tunnel’s establishment also eyes to reduce Bandung’s inundation area from 3,461-hectares to 2,761-hectares and increase Citarum River’s capability to dispell water from 570 cubic meters per second to 669 cubic meters per second.
