TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Speaker, Prasetio Edi Marsudi, threatened to take legal action by taking the controversial Monas revitalization to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) or police if the city administration persists to defy rules.
“If they continue to disobey, we will take steps by probably filing a report to the police or KPK,” said Prasetio at the Monas area in Central Jakarta, Tuesday, January 27.
According to Prasetio, the city’s administration failed to file for a permit to the steering committee for the development of the Medan Merdeka region under the State Secretariat’s Office.
He further asserts that this requirement is overseen by the President’s Decree No.25/1995 in regards to the Monas revitalization.
Previously, the Jakarta administrators issued a request for a permit to the committee on two other construction projects; MRT station in Monas and another permit for the upcoming Formula E race. However, the Monas revitalization project was failed to be mentioned by the city.
He calls for the project to be postponed until it has obtained proper permits from the State Secretariate even though thousands of square meter land in Monas are already covered in concrete.
