SOE Employee Nabbed for Assembling and Selling Illegal Firearms

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A suspected SOE employee was nabbed in a joint operation of Tangerang Resort Police and Banten Regional Police for being an assembler as well as selling illegal firearms.
The suspect, PA, 50, was arrested in Tegal, Central Java. "The suspect received an order to convert an airsoft gun into a firearm," said Tangerang City Police Chief Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi on Tuesday, January 28, 2020.
According to Ade Ary, the suspect got paid Rp 4 million for one firearm on each order. The suspect was known to work in a state-owned sugar factory and also being a firearm assembler since six months ago.
Tangerang City Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief Commissioner, Gogo Galesung stated that PA's arrest was the result of the development of the case by Tangerang Police Criminal Investigation Unit officers.
Previously, the police had nabbed nine illegal firearms and hundreds of bullet from the EC suspect. EC was paid Rp 11-13 million for selling illegal firearms with Makarov type.
Gogo explained that the suspect assembling illegal firearms from airsoft guns was charged under article 1 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 with the maximum criminal threat of capital punishment, life imprisonment or 20 years in prison.
