TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Land Transportation Director General Budi Setiyadi has asked the police to provide license plates with special colors for electric vehicles (EV). The proposed policy is aimed at facilitating the provision of incentives for electric vehicle owners.
“I asked the police so that electric motorcycles and EV can have different basic colors for their license plates and different vehicle registration certificates (STNKB),” he said at the Arrival Hall of Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Monday, January 27, 2020.
Incentives for electric vehicles will include, among others, free parking retributions and vehicle taxes. ”So it will be easier to give them the incentives,” he said.
Budi said this policy was exclusive for totally-electric vehicles, excluding the hybrid and the plug-in hybrid models.
“This proposal is already included in the National Police Chief’s draft regulations on the basic colors of electric vehicles,” he explained.
