TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan promised to clarify his decision to appoint Donny Andy S. Saragih as Transjakarta president-director, replacing Agung Wicaksono, which has caused quite a stir after it is revealed that Donny is currently incriminated in a fraud case and faces charges up to two years in prison.
“Later, later at noon [I’ll clarify about Donny’s appointment],” Anies Baswedan at the Jakarta City Hall on Monday, January 27.
Head of the Jakarta Ombudsman, Teguh Nugroho, initially questioned the Governor’s decision to appoint Donny without a thorough background screening upon his status as a defendant in an ongoing criminal case.
“The governor should have taken [Donny’s track record] into consideration,” said Teguh to Tempo’s newspaper on Monday.
Donny had been incriminated in the case as he was the operational director of PT Eka Sari Lorena Transport on September 2017. He and his partner, Porman, had committed fraud against RT Lorena Transport president director, Gusti Terkelin Soerbakti, who eventually reported them to the police.
