BMKG Issues Weather Forecast During Lunar New Year

TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning of the potential for rain; from light to heavy, showering several regions in Indonesia during Lunar New Year on January 25.
According to the meteorology agency, moderate until heavy rains are expected to fall in Bengkulu, South Sumatra, Bangka-Belitung, Lampung. As well as in Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Kalimantan (West, South, and Central), Sulawesi (West, South, and Southeast), until Papua.
Meanwhile, light rain will shower Aceh, North and West Sumatra, Jambi, East Kalimantan, East Java, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, North Maluku up to West Papua.
Head of the meteorology agency, Miming Saepudin, said that rainfalls hit differently in each region. "The potential [for rain] may significantly to occur at night until predawn and afternoon until the evening," he said when contacted on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.
BMKG forecasted that light rain to shower Jakarta Greater Area (Jabodatabek), emphasizing that moderate to heavy rain will fall only at predawn, morning, and night of January 24-27.
