TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives's Commission III asked Attorney General S.T. Burhanuddin to investigate the case of Asuransi Jiwasraya thoroughly. The Commission III chairman Herman Herry said the Attorney General's Office (AGO) must be able to catch the big fish, a.k.a. the main actors of the case.
"I can't name names, but there are indicators that many parties—'the big fish'—are involved," Herman told Tempo in Jakarta, Monday, January 20.
Herman appreciated the Adhyaksa Corps for acting appropriately in confiscating and securing assets, as well as searching and detaining suspects. But he said that the AGO must also anticipate possibilities of assets and evidences disappearing or being tampered with.
The PDIP politician also reminds the authorities not to limit the case around certain actors only. He suspected that there are masterminds behind the scandal that, which is estimated to cost the state up to Rp13.7 trillion.
"I suspect that the suspects who have been arrested are just 'tools'—probably field agents. The people that the AGO needs to catch are the actors behind this; the strategists," he remarked, related to the Jiwasraya case.
