TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is urged to coordinate with Interpol to issue a red notice to capture the alleged graft suspect from the Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Harun Masiku, as the legislative candidate has yet to return from overseas.
“This is a problem and KPK must intensify their search,” said Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) legal division, Kurnia Ramadhana, on Monday, January 13.
Not only that, Kurnia strongly urged PDIP to assist KPK in the search of one of its members.
“[Harun] is a PDIP legislative candidate. PDIP should be assisting KPK’s search,” he said.
According to Kurnia, KPK must see the case’s construction in detail. He also called for KPK’s assertiveness if they find attempts to hamper the investigation presented by the political party or its own supervisory board, which permits any KPK search warrant.
“This is a joke that the search will only be done next week,” said the ICW member.
Even though a PDIP higher up are involved in the case, Kurnia said, the political party should provide relevant data to the KPK in regards to the fugitive Harun Masiku.
