TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police announced that it is set to question Garuda Indonesia stewardess Siwi Widi Purwanti today on Monday, January 13, in a follow up to an alleged defamation case by a Twitter account known as @digeeembok.
The account gained a sudden rise in popularity after producing a series of tweets associating Siwi Widi Purwanti to one of Garuda’s - now-fired - board of directors, Heri Akhyar, during the Garuda Indonesia illegal import scandal late last year.
“The plan is to hold the questioning today,” said Metro Jaya Police spokesman Grand Commissioner Yusri Yunus to Tempo today.
He remained tight-lipped as to what will be mentioned in the questioning apart from announcing that police are already in possession of pieces of evidence provided by Siwi. Police will decide whether the Garuda Indonesia stewardess’ report on the Twitter account will be continued to an investigation and indictment.
Siwi Widi reported the Twitter account @digeembok to Metro Jaya Police on December 28, 2019, over defamation allegations as she maintains the tweets produced by the account had violated her privacy and presented her with pressure in her work environment due to rumors spread by the Twitter account.
