TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Education and Culture Minister Nadiem Makarim has placed a ban on the use of disposable plastic bottles or bags within the Education and Culture Ministry.
The ban was stipulated in the minister's circular number 12 of 2019, dated November 26, 2019, a copy of which was made available to Antara on Friday.
The ban also applies to the use of materials that can produce waste, including plastic plates, glasses, or bags, at all of the ministry’s working units.
In line with the circular, participants at meetings, training courses, or similar activities at the ministry are also banned from bringing food items wrapped in plastics or water in plastic bottles to the meeting venue or training site
The minister has called on each working unit at the ministry to furnish dispensers, teapots, and glasses to avoid the use of plastics.
The minister has also encouraged the use of reusable plates or glasses made of melamine, ceramics, and rattan. He appealed to the ranks and files of the ministry to get accustomed to bringing private cutlery.
