TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Jakarta District Police arrested NA (23), a housemaid, after a video of her abusing a child went viral. NA was taped to physically tormenting the child of her employer, Tjeuw Yannie (38), who is a resident of Jelambar, West Jakarta.

The West Jakarta Police Chief, Sr.  Comr. Audie S. Latuheru, said that NA abused, smothered, and tied up the seven-year-old child. She then ran away.

"Officers arrested the suspect when she was hiding in her boyfriend's house in Duri Kosambi, Cengkareng, West Jakarta," Audie said in a written statement, Wednesday, January 8.

Audie said that since 2015 NA has often abused the child and his older sibling. The police have seized a video recording of NA's crime, along with a pair of scissors and a rope she used to tie the victim.

Previously, Tjeuw Yannie posted a video to Facebook revealing the inhumane treatment her children received from NA. In the post, Tjeuw warned others not to employ NA as a domestic helper due to her bad track record.
