Sri Mulyani to Waive Halal Certification Fee for SMEs

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati ensured that the government will waive the charge of arrangement for halal products certificate. This free certificate was specifically for micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs).
According to Sri Mulyani, the whole halal certification process will be quick and easy, starting from the registration to the obtaining of certification for the guarantee of halal products. "The charge will be at zero, but to reach out to millions of small businesses will soon to be discussed," said Sri Mulyani at the Ministry of Economy, Wednesday, January 8, 2020.
Whereas, Sri Mulyani has yet to give details of the budget that will be issued to subsidize the cost of arrangement for a halal certificate. She said the estimated budget for the zero charge will be calculated by the Halal Product Guarantee Agency.
Director General of Treasury, Andin Hadiyanto said the relevant provision of zero charge in the arrangement of a halal certificate was still being discussed including the budget for the subsidy.
"Whether the subsidy is in a Public Service Agency (BLU) or if less the Ministry of Finance could intervene in later. The point is that how we facilitate small and medium enterprises," said Andin.
In addition to Sri Mulyani, the meeting that related to the halal certification was also attended by the Minister of Religion Fachrul Razi. "It was talking about the halal certificate," said Fachrul.
