Jokowi Says Fishermen Should Maximize Facilities in Natuna

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi asked the fishermen in Natuna to optimize the utilization of facilities and infrastructure of fisheries that have been built in the area.
"We have been built this for four years. Do they really helpful," President Jokowi said when he met fishermen in the central Marine and Fisheries Integrated Natuna, Riau Islands, on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.
Joko Widodo mentioned that the existing facilities will help the fishermen sell all of their catches. "I was wondering if they sell it to the wholesaler; meaning that all the fish can be sold," he said.
The president said that both central and local governments wanted all marine resources can be utilized to improve the prosperity and welfare of the people.
The government, said Widodo, will support all efforts to improve the welfare of fishermen. "This will be supported by the government. We've spent a lot and it should be beneficial for all," he said.
He mentioned that if there is something need to be repaired. "Do not let this building gives no benefits for the fishermen," said Jokowi.
