TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The newly appointed chairman for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri commented on the fact that his name was mentioned in Palembang’s corruption court trial of graft defendant Ahmad Yani, on Tuesday, January 7.
“I never received anything from anyone. I also asserted this rule onto my family; not to accept anything. They will be rejected,” said the former South Sumatra Police Chief Firli Bahuri today.
Moreover, he maintains that his 'non-gratification ways' had already started since his days in the police institution. “That includes my tenure as South Sumatra police chief.”
Firli Bahuri was mentioned in the court trial of a bribery case with Rp132 billion at stake. Former Muara Enim Regent Ahmad Yani is the main defendant in the graft case.
The defendant’s attorney Maqdir Ismail said Firli’s name came in KPK’s wiretap on another defendant in the same case, Elfin Muchtar, who is the Public Works and Public Housing Department's head of development.
In the corruption court trial, Elvin’s conversation with a contractor named Robi was presented and revealed Elvin’s plan to bribe Firli Bahuri. “The court never asked Firli for confirmation whether he received that money or not,” said Maqdir.
