Jakarta Flood; Public Facilities to Resume Normal Operations

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said every public facility, including transportation services, across the Capital is hoped to return to normal operations on Thursday following the widespread Jakarta flood that crippled public activities.
“[City officials] have rehabilitated every public facility, streets and other crucial locations, in hopes of running all of them normally again,” said the governor at Manggarai in South Jakarta on Wednesday.
He said the members of the city’s maintenance agency are in the midst of clearing standing water that still covers public streets following the flood due to the torrential rain that lasted since New Year’s Eve.
“As we now witness at Cawang Street, the shallow flood is constantly being pumped clean,” said the Jakarta Governor while he personally monitored the mitigation process.
As an added note, Anies Baswedan has ordered the odd-even number plate policy is temporarily annulled on Thursday to ease the mobility of Jakarta residents.
