TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta is bracing for flood as rain poured over the capital city of Indonesia during New Year’s Eve. Manggarai floodgate in Central Jakarta has forced its status into Alert II since the water level increased to 854 cm high on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at around 3:30 a.m.
The rain has been showering the city quite intensively since Tuesday night, December 31, until this article was made this morning, January 1.
Based on the regional disaster mitigation agency (BPBD), the water level at Jembatan Merah floodgate, Ciliwung, was increased to Alert I.
Meanwhile, the status of five floodgates reportedly increased to Alert III, namely Karet floodgate with 539 cm high and Marina Ancol floodgate with 179 cm high.
The rain also increased water level at other floodgates, including Pesanggarahan with 181 cm, Kali Duri (Kalijodo) with 246 cm high and Hek floodgate with 180 cm.
