5 New Year's Eve Fireworks Party Spots in Bekasi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bekasi Metro Police said it had received five proposals for permits to hold fireworks parties during New Year's Eve. Most of the parties will be held at shopping centers.
"They officially have permission to set off fireworks," said Bekasi Police Deputy Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Eka Mulyana on Monday, December 30.
Eka outlined the five venues are Mega Bekasi Hypermal or commonly known as Giant Mall, Lagoon Avenue, Summarecon Mall Bekasi (South Bekasi), Harapan Indah Area (Medansatria), and a shopping mall in Pondok Gede.
In addition to the five fireworks parties, Eka predicted four other locations that will be flocked by the public to celebrate the new year. They are the Galaxi area in South Bekasi, Jalan Ahmad Yani in South Bekasi, Kranji of West Bekasi, and Cibubur (Jatisampurna).
"The fireworks spots are expected to disperse the mass concentration that is usually centered in the car-free night area because the event will not be held this year,” Eka added.
Eka said his party would deploy more than a thousand joint personnel to secure New Year's Eve celebrations. The security measures start from the anticipation of traffic jams to public crimes or brawls. "We will enforce the security until the mass return to their homes," said Bekasi Police Deputy Chief.
