Jakarta will Apply Car Free Night during New Year's Eve

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police Chief of public relation bureau Sr. Comsr. Yusri Yunus said his office will implement a car-free night policy during New Year's Eve at Thamrin, Sudirman, and Senayan area.

"It will start at 17:00 until the next morning," he said Friday, December 27.

He also said that several roads will be diverted due to the car free night event.

Yusri said the authorities will deploy 10,000 personnel joined in the Operasi Lilin Jaya team. They will be spread in every T-junction and crowd points in the capital city.

The crowd spots include Hotel Indonesia roundabout (Bundaran HI), the National Monument or Monas, Ancol, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), and some other locations.

"We'll also guard every entertainment places together with TNI (Indonesian army) members," he said, adding that the police will map the areas with crime vulnerability.
