Railway Passengers Increases During Christmas Holiday Peak

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) in Bandung recorded rail passengers for both local trains and long-haulers have reached 235,784 people entering the third day of the 2019 Christmas and New Year’s transport cycle.
PT KAI Bandung’s spokesperson, Noxy Citrea, said on Monday; “Rail passengers for KA Utama and local trains, up to H-3 days from December 19-23 is 235,784 people.”
According to Noxy, this year’s rail passenger traffic nearly equals last year’s Christmas and New Year’s holiday term of 239,077 passengers.
PT KAI predicts it has hit its peak on Monday, December 23, or just two days from Christmas. Meanwhile, the peak passenger traffic for New Year’s Eve will happen on January 2, 2020.
This year, the number of rail passengers at Bandung’s Operation II region as of Sunday saw a rise in all segments such as the business, executive, and economy-class trains compared to 2018 during the same period.
