TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir has appointed Amien Sunaryadi as state electricity firm PLN's Chief Commissioner and Zulkifli Zaini as its new CEO.
"Both Pak Amien and Pak Zulkifli have very good track records, are ready to work hard and decent people. Just like with other SOEs’ directors and commissioners, I will intensely meet them regularly every month to ensure [the progress of] various big plans of the government’s priorities," said Erick in a written statement on Monday, December 23.
The shareholders’ general meeting of PLN, the minister added, is slated to be held this afternoon with the agenda of the inauguration of the new board of commissioners and directors. As known so far, PLN is helmed by acting director Sripeni Inten Cahyani.
Erick revealed that PLN would have tough tasks starting from realizing the 100 percent electrification ratio in Indonesia up to creating efficient electricity tariffs for both the community and industry.
In addition, new PLN leaders are mandated to increase the use of renewable energy (EBT) as an alternative source of electricity, especially in the new capital city, Erick Thohir explained.
Amien Sunaryadi was a deputy chairman of the KPK for the 2003-2007 period. During his tenure, Amien introduced a progressive eradication of corruption and was the drafter of search and surveillance actions carried out by the anti-graft body to uncover high profile corruption cases.
Zulkifli Zaini currently serves as an independent commissioner of BNI since March 17, 2015, and was a Bank Mandiri director from 2010 to 2013.
