MRT Jakarta Targets 24mn Passengers Until Year End

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation company Mass Rapid Transit Jakarta (MRT Jakarta) targetted it could reach 23-24 million passengers until the end of 2019.
As many as 22.3 million passengers as per Thursday, Dec. 19, have used Ratangga train, according to the CEO of the transportation company William Sabandar.
"It actually has surpassed the target we have set," William at his office on Thursday.
Ratangga has been operating for nine months. The initial target was 65,000 people per day but now, it reached an averagely of 88,000 passengers daily.
The figure keeps increasing monthly. William said that throughout December, the number of the passenger reached 94,784 per day from previously 89,327 people per day last month.
"The increase caused by the issuance of Multi-Trip Card and rainy season factor," he said, adding that the rainy season was a blessing for the transportation company.
William said his office targetted to reach more than 100,000 passengers per day next year. The company, he went on, would offer its best services to attract people using mass transportation like MRT.
"We'll build more park and ride areas so the people willing to use MRT Jakarta," he said.
