Jokowi Inaugurates 5 Members of KPK Supervisory Board

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has inaugurated five members of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Supervisory Board for the 2019-2023 period at the Palace, Jakarta, on Friday, December 20, 2019.
The five members of the Supervisory Board are Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean as the Chief, Albertina Ho, Artidjo Alkostar, Syamsuddin Haris, and Harjono. The inauguration was based on the Presidential Decree No. 140/2019.
The following is a brief profile of the five members:
Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean is a former prosecutor and had served as an acting chairman of KPK in 2009.
The board's member Artidjo is known as one of respectable Supreme Court judges as he often ruled severe sentences to graft convicts.
Meanwhile, Albertina Ho was a judge at South Jakarta District Court. She had become public spotlight when she handled a bribery case of Tax Directorate General official Gayus Tambunan. At that time, she charged Gayus with seven years in imprisonment and a fine of IDR 300 million.
Before serving as KPK supervisory board, Syamsuddin Haris is widely known as a researcher of political studies at the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), while Harjono is a former Constitutional Court justice who is now chairman of the Election Organization Ethics Council (DKPP).
