TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Mass Rapid Transit Jakarta (MRT Jakarta) is set to offer a new alternative to the payment system in the form of QR Codes starting as early as January 2020.
MRT Jakarta President Director William Sabandar says he has worked with four firms in the field of non-cash payments to handle the QR code or barcode payment system. The four firms are Dana, Go-Pay, OVO, and Link Aja.
“The QR ticket scanners are in the process. It cannot be used as of now,” said William at his headquarters on Thursday, December 19.
According to William, the cashless ticket payment system is scheduled to be fully operational next month. This new addition of cashless payment system effectively makes two payment alternatives available at MRT stations; card tapping or barcodes, with the latter being able to pay tariffs in 0.1 seconds.
