Christmas; Thousands Officers Deployed in Soekarno Hatta Airport

TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - A total of 3,660 joint security personnel are stationed in Soekarno - Hatta Airport during the holidays of Christmas 2019 and New Year 2020, according to Febri Toga Simatupang, the airport's senior manager of branch communications and legal affairs.
“We have deployed 3,660 security personnel from aviation security, Indonesian Military or TNI and National Police,” he said on Wednesday, December 18.
According to Febri, all officers had been coordinated to maintain security and safety during the year-end holidays today, December 18.
The personnel is supported by over 2,000 CCTV units and other standard equipment such as X-ray machines, hand-held metal detectors, walkthrough metal detectors, road blockers, patrol vehicles, and so on.
Soekarno - Hatta Airport in Tangerang is the busiest airport in Indonesia with the operation of 3 terminals. Its flight traffic contributed to 60 percent of the total aviation traffic in the archipelago.
The airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) predicted that the number of airplane passengers in the airport during Christmas and New Year holidays will reach 3.48 million people, up by 2 percent when compared to the same period of last year's.
The airport’s resort police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Adi Ferdian Saputra said he mobilized hundreds of personnel for the security measures at the airport. “Some 160 officers are deployed,” Adi said.
Adi added that the personnel is spread in several vulnerable points such as passenger terminals and entrance gates of Soekarno - Hatta Airport to anticipate traffic density.
